Welcome to Beaver Wood Energy

Bringing Clean Energy and Jobs to Vermont

Welcome to Beaver Wood Energy, a clean energy company formed to design and build two renewable energy projects in Fair Haven and Pownal, VT. Our 29 megawatt biomass facilities will create hundreds of local jobs, support local economies and supply clean energy to Vermonters and New Englanders for decades to come.

Each project represents an estimated $150 million investment in the communities of Fair Haven and Pownal and will provide reliable, baseload power as Vermont looks toward expiring contracts with Vermont Yankee and seeks to move away from dependence on foreign oil.

Vermont has a long and successful history with biomass energy with the McNeil Station (50 MW) in Burlington and the Ryegate facility (22MW) in Ryegate. As Vermont seeks to increase its use of clean, locally-produced energy, biomass can play an important part in that future.

In addition, Beaver Wood plans to maximize the efficiency of these facilities by using the waste heat to produce wood pellets for home and commercial use. This creates yet another clean-burning option for Vermonters, enabling the state to decrease its use of oil.
